Sending an email using a Gmail account is not hard as many beginners may imagine. After creating your email account, it may just take you less than 5 minutes to send your first mail as the Gmail interface is very user-friendly. To start sending an email message, click on the “Compose Mail” link just under the Gmail logo on the top-left side of the screen as shown below.
After clicking that option, an online form featuring a composing section will be displayed. This section has three important fields where you are required to provide the email addressees of the recipients, email subject and the email message. The email address of the recipient is important as it shows who you are sending the message to. The email subject line suggests what you intend to write. This part can be described in a few words. The third section is the email content. This is in a huge box compared to that of the subject line. Here, you can make your email content as long as you want. At the “To” field, enter the recipients email address. Note that it is also possible to send a Gmail email to more than one recipient. This is achieved by entering all the recipients’ addresses separating each one of them by a comma. Another way of sending a Gmail email to multiple recipients is through Gmail Cc (Carbon copy) and Bcc (Blind carbon copy). Bcc recipients don’t get to know each other while Cc recipients can know each other. In the second field, you can type email subject, one line is enough. After this, you can come to the third section where you can write the actual message.
With Gmail, you can compose two types of messages which are plain text and rich text. Plain text email has no formatting but appears in default font face whereas rich-text message can be formatted with a variety of fonts, sizes, colors, web links, alignment, emoticons and other variations. Above the email message text box is a bar with several buttons or icons. Moving the mouse cursor over each icon shows the respective function. Incase you need to save your email, check out the “Save” button at the top. Your email will be send to the “Drafts” folder which you can view. You can click the “Send” button after completing your message. Gmail automatically saves your email. You can check the “Send Mail” option if you want to retrieve the email you send in future.
